Racking Safety Awareness Training Course

Delivered by a SEMA approved racking inspector

The Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) recommends that your racking is inspected regularly, frequently and competently by your appointed (PRRS) Person Responsible for Racking Safety to ensure that all risks can be identified and assessed.

Rack inspections are integral to the ongoing safety of your warehouse racking and having trained staff on-site to assess your racking and report damage is of the utmost of importance.

Our training can take place on-site, where delegates will learn practical and theory skills to identify racking damage and have the knowledge to know how to handle any potential issue according to health and safety guidelines.

The half day course (approximatly 4 hours) is presented by a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector who will provide your staff with the required skills to inspect racking on a weekly basis. Well-suited for groups of 2-8 delegates, the course provides both information and hands on training.

Content of Our Rack Safety Awareness Course

Our rack safety awareness course consists of two sessions, the first session focuses on theory, the second session focuses on hands-on training whereby your staff apply the knowledge they acquired by surveying your racking installation on-site.

Topics of the day include:

Terms & Conditions
SEMA guidelines and codes of practice in relation to pallet rack inspections
Health & safety regulations relating to pallet racking inspections
The reasons why pallet racking inspections are required
Racking terminology and component identification
Types of damage that can occur, with group discussions on examples
Technical information on deflection limits, damage limitations and more
A question and answer session takes place after all slides have been covered in each section
Delegates are taken into the warehouse to look for and identify damage
A short assessment questionnaire is completed by delegates to finish the course
Please note: This course would not provide your staff with a SEMA qualification, however, they would be trained to carry out an intermediate safety inspection following the SEMA & HSE Guidelines. The course is demonstrated and conducted at ground level only.
